GKN Aerospace Delivers First Upgraded RM12EP Engine to Swedish Air Force for Gripen C/D Fleet
GKN Aerospace has delivered the first upgraded RM12EP engine for the Swedish Air Force's Gripen C/D fleet, valued at SKr400 million ($42.8 million). The upgrades enhance thrust, extend operational life, and reduce lifecycle costs. The RM12EP program, initiated in 2019, reflects collaboration with GE and Saab, and aims to ensure long-term efficiency for the Gripen fleet. Additional upgraded engines will be delivered continuously to maintain operational readiness.

GKN Aerospace has delivered the first upgraded RM12EP engine to the Swedish Armed Forces, enhancing the Gripen C/D fleet. The project, valued at SKr400 million ($42.8 million), includes improvements in turbine components and engine control software, increasing thrust and reducing lifecycle costs.
The upgrades are performed at GKN's Trollhättan facility and are part of the RM12EP program launched in 2019. The Swedish Air Force operates nearly 100 Gripen C/D aircraft. Continuous deliveries of upgraded engines are planned to ensure operational capability.
