Glamox HVLAS Enables First Night Landing of US Coast Guard Helicopter on UK Royal Navy Vessel
Glamox celebrated the first night landing of a US Coast Guard helicopter on HMS Trent, a UK Royal Navy Batch 2 Offshore Patrol Vessel. The Helicopter Visual Landing Aid System (HVLAS), installed in 2025, facilitated this landing, enhancing operational flexibility for disaster relief operations. The project involved collaboration with the Defence Equipment & Support Organisation and UK Docks Marine Services.

Glamox's Helicopter Visual Landing Aid System (HVLAS) enabled the first-ever night landing of a US Coast Guard helicopter on the HMS Trent, a UK Royal Navy Batch 2 Offshore Patrol Vessel. The landing occurred off the coast of Miami, Florida, and was part of valuable aviation training for day and night operations.
The HVLAS, installed in 2025, enhances helicopter landing capabilities in rough seas and at night. Glamox collaborated with the Defence Equipment & Support Organisation and UK Docks Marine Services for this project, which aims to improve aviation capabilities across Royal Navy vessels.
