Gliders India Limited, located in Kanpur, has been awarded a Rs 26 crore contract by Vietnam for 274 specialized parachutes intended for use in fighter aircraft, particularly the Sukhoi-30. This order supports India's expanding role in the global defense export market and follows a prior export order worth Rs 17 crore in 2023.

The parachutes, which include brake and pilot types, are manufactured to meet international standards, using advanced materials and technology. Each brake parachute weighs approximately 23 kgs, features over 32 suspension lines, and is designed to function at landing speeds of up to 300 km/h. The deal reflects the increasing international trust in Indian defense manufacturing.
