Golden Dome Missile Defense Program Cost Rises to $185 Billion with New Contractors
The Golden Dome missile defense program's budget has risen to $185 billion, reflecting a $10 billion increase aimed at enhancing space capabilities. General Michael Guetlein announced during the McAleese Defense Programs conference that Lockheed Martin, RTX, and Northrop Grumman are now primary contractors.
The additional funding will support the Advanced Missile Tracking Initiative, a data network, and the HBTSS sensor system. The program's architecture is planned for delivery over the next decade, with operational readiness expected by 2032. Guetlein dismissed external cost estimates predicting expenses could exceed $1 trillion, emphasizing a different approach to national defense.
