Golden Pass LNG Begins Production in Texas by QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil
The launch of LNG production at Golden Pass marks a critical advancement for U.S. energy exports amid global supply challenges. With a capacity of 18 million tons annually, the facility plays a vital role in diversifying gas supply, especially following disruptions in Qatar due to geopolitical tensions.

Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture between QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil, has commenced production at its facility in Sabine Pass, Texas. With an annual capacity of 18 million metric tons, the first production unit (Train 1) contributes 6 million metric tons.
QatarEnergy holds 70% ownership, while ExxonMobil retains 30%. Initial shipments are expected in Q2 2026. This $10 billion project faced delays and cost overruns since its 2019 announcement.
QatarEnergy has declared force majeure on other facilities, impacting 20% of global LNG supply, thus straining markets and increasing prices in Asia. The successful launch at Golden Pass could help stabilize supply amid ongoing geopolitical issues.
