Google Partners with AMP Robotics for Biochar Project to Remove 200,000 Tons of CO₂ by 2030
Google has signed a deal with AMP Robotics to purchase carbon removal credits aimed at removing 200,000 metric tons of CO₂e by 2030. The project utilizes AI to sort waste, converting organic materials into biochar, which can store carbon long-term and reduce methane emissions. This initiative reflects a shift from simple offsets to scalable carbon removal solutions, addressing both methane emissions and long-term carbon storage.

Google has entered into a significant agreement with an AMP Robotics affiliate to purchase carbon removal credits, targeting the removal of 200,000 metric tons of CO₂e by 2030. The initiative employs artificial intelligence to sort municipal solid waste, diverting organic waste from landfills and converting it into biochar.
