Government Savings Bank Implements Debt Write-Off and Relief for Border Unrest Victims

DEFENSE

The Government Savings Bank (GSB) has announced financial measures in response to unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border, including a full debt write-off for personnel who died in national defense duties. Loan accounts of deceased soldiers and Border Patrol Police will be forgiven retroactively from December 7, 2025, extending to their legal heirs, specifically parents, spouses, and legitimate children.

The bank will also provide aid to families of fallen personnel, injured service members, and civilians affected by the conflict. Additionally, a debt moratorium is available for customers who have lost income due to disrupted access to livelihoods, offering a three-month suspension of principal repayments and a full interest waiver. Eligible borrowers can apply at GSB branches, evacuation centers, or via the MyMo mobile app until January 31, 2026.
