Governor Gordon Approves $11.2 Million for Three Wyoming Energy Projects

Governor Gordon has approved three projects in Wyoming for a total of $11.2 million in Energy Matching Funds (EMF). Peabody Energy Corporation will receive $6.25 million for its Wyoming Rare Earths project, which aims to produce rare-earth concentrate in the Powder River Basin.

The University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources has been awarded $989,282 for its Advanced Characterization and Development of the Mowry Total Petroleum System project. Carbon GeoCapture and Black Hills Energy will receive $4.95 million to demonstrate low-cost energy generation using carbon storage from coal and natural gas plants. Since 2022, Wyoming has allocated $155 million for energy projects through the EMF program.
