Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE-N) has awarded a £25m contract to WSP and Mott MacDonald to begin environmental and permitting works for the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme at Wylfa, Anglesey. This initiative follows the UK Government's selection of Wylfa as the lead site for the SMR fleet.

The contract will support environmental assessments and regulatory engagement necessary for construction preparations. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs during construction and a few hundred jobs once operational, emphasizing the importance of environmental compliance and local engagement.
