Greece and Qatar Strengthen Bilateral Relations Across Multiple Sectors
Greece and Qatar are enhancing their cooperation in investments, energy, defense, and tourism, highlighted by a recent visit from Qatar's Amir. This expanding relationship includes a memorandum in the agri-food sector and initiatives in renewable energy, cultural exchange, and educational partnerships.

Greece and Qatar are developing a closer partnership, underscored by a visit from Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Athens on April 29-30, 2026. This visit led to a bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in the agri-food sector and discussions on energy cooperation, emphasizing Greece's role as a gateway to Europe for Qatari investments in LNG infrastructure and other sectors.
Both nations are also collaborating in tourism, with agreements allowing direct flights by Qatar Airways to key Greek destinations. Furthermore, Qatar's investments in Greece's Public Power Corporation support the expansion of renewable energy initiatives. Educational ties are formalized through a MoU facilitating student exchanges between Qatar University and the National and Capodistrian University of Athens.
