Greece Emerges as Key LNG Gateway for Europe with Vertical Corridor Approval
The European Commission's approval of a new pricing methodology for the Vertical Gas Corridor positions Greece as a pivotal entry point for U.S. LNG into Europe. Starting in the 2026-2027 gas year, Transmission System Operators will offer various capacity products, improving price visibility and enabling long-term planning. The corridor, supported by AKTOR Group, facilitates LNG exports to several countries, enhancing regional energy security and attracting international interest in capacity auctions.

The Vertical Gas Corridor is set to transform Europe's LNG landscape, establishing Greece as a crucial gateway for U.S. LNG exports. The European Commission's approval of a new pricing methodology represents a significant shift in energy strategy.
Beginning in the 2026-2027 gas year, Transmission System Operators will provide a full range of capacity products, addressing previous issues of fragmented tariffs and limited auction participation. Key players, including AKTOR Group, have already secured export agreements to Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, effectively activating the corridor ahead of its full rollout. This development is expected to attract international investments and enhance the resilience of the European energy system.
