The Greek government announced a potential meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and farmers on Monday, contingent on open roads. Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis emphasized that participants must not be under investigation and should represent a functional group.
He stated that there are no new measures beyond those previously announced for farmers. In defense of earlier dialogues with protesters, he rejected claims of unrepresentative discussions. In foreign relations, Greece is in talks with Turkey to set a date for a high-level cooperation council meeting.
Concurrently, Greece welcomed the first of four Belharra frigates, marking a significant upgrade to its naval capabilities. The frigates Kimon, Nearchos, and Formion are set to complete the program by 2028.
Greece also issued a €4 billion bond, significantly oversubscribed, which will cover 50% of its borrowing needs for 2026. Additionally, a new agreement with Italian railway group Ferrovie dello Stato will see the purchase of 23 new trains, with a focus on improving travel times.
