Greene King is investing £249,000 in The Sportsman pub in Reading. The investment includes replacing a 'jumbrella' with a covered pergola. Planning permission for the pergola was granted by Reading Borough Council on March 6, with planning officer Alison Amoah stating that it would enhance the pub's function as a community facility. Earlier in the year, Greene King also received approval to repaint the pub navy blue and to replace its signage.
