Greta Thunberg Arrested in London During Pro-Palestinian Protest Under Terrorism Legislation
Greta Thunberg was arrested in London on Tuesday during a pro-Palestinian demonstration for displaying a placard supporting prisoners linked to Palestine Action, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the UK government. Thunberg, 22, was detained under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000 outside Aspen Insurance on Fenchurch Street, which was targeted for allegedly providing services to Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems.
Two other protesters were previously arrested for criminal damage after spraying red paint on the building. The incident is part of the 'Prisoners for Palestine' campaign supporting hunger-striking detainees, and follows Palestine Action's addition to the UK’s list of proscribed terrorist organizations earlier this year. The City of London Police confirmed the arrest but did not name Thunberg.
