Gunnison Copper has joined the Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC), enhancing its access to federal funding and partnerships aimed at strengthening domestic supply chains for critical minerals. The company, based in Phoenix, emphasizes its capability to accelerate production timelines, achieving copper output at the Johnson Camp Mine within 18 months, compared to the industry average of 7-10 years.
The Johnson Camp Mine, funded by Nuton LLC, has a capacity of 25 million pounds of refined copper cathodes annually. The Gunnison Copper Project aims for an annual production of 79,000 tons and has an NPV of $2 billion with a 23% IRR. These efforts target defense applications, including munitions and drone components.
