Guyana Launches Demand Side Management Programme for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Adoption
The Guyana Energy Agency and Guyana Power and Light have initiated the Demand Side Management Programme to enhance energy efficiency and encourage responsible energy consumption. The programme focuses on promoting energy-efficient appliances, conducting energy audits, and facilitating the adoption of renewable energy solutions, including grid-tied solar systems. It aims to lower electricity costs for consumers and support sustainable energy practices in line with Guyana's Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030.

The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) and Guyana Power and Light (GPL) have launched the Demand Side Management (DSM) Programme to improve energy efficiency and promote responsible consumption. Key initiatives include optimizing existing appliances, promoting Energy Star rated devices, and conducting energy audits for maximum-demand customers.
The programme encourages the adoption of renewable energy, particularly grid-tied solar photovoltaic systems, which allow consumers to earn credits for excess energy fed back into the grid. This initiative aligns with Guyana's Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030, aiming to provide a sustainable energy pathway and enhance grid performance.
