GWT Shifts Focus to Aerospace and Defense from Offshore Wind in Louisiana
Gulf Wind Technology (GWT) in Louisiana pivots from offshore wind to aerospace and defense after a halt in U.S. offshore wind projects. The company recently completed repairs on a government radio telescope in New Mexico and plans to invest $12 million in new manufacturing capabilities. GWT continues to support onshore wind infrastructure while seeking opportunities in various industries, capitalizing on its expertise in lightweight materials.

Gulf Wind Technology (GWT) in Louisiana has shifted its focus from offshore wind projects to aerospace, maritime, energy, and defense due to a lack of domestic investment in offshore wind. The company recently repaired a radio telescope in New Mexico, marking its first project post-pivot.
GWT plans to invest $12 million this year in manufacturing equipment and product development. Despite a hold on new offshore projects, GWT continues to service over 20 clients in the onshore wind sector, enhancing turbine performance and supporting the renewable energy market, which generates approximately 11% of U.S. electricity.
