Hainan Launches Zero-Carbon Park Initiative to Enhance Green Transportation Infrastructure
Hainan has announced the launch of a Zero-Carbon Park initiative aimed at enhancing green transportation infrastructure within the Hainan Free Trade Port. The project will focus on upgrading facilities such as charging stations and hydrogen refueling sites, while promoting new energy vehicles and implementing vehicle-to-grid technology. By 2026, the initiative plans to establish a comprehensive carbon management system and integrate renewable energy sources through smart microgrids.

The Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Commission has announced plans for constructing Zero-Carbon Parks in the Hainan Free Trade Port, focusing on green transportation infrastructure. The initiative aims to upgrade facilities such as charging piles, battery swapping stations, and hydrogen refueling stations, and promote shore power at ports and airports.
The project is part of a broader strategy to decarbonize transportation, enhance the use of new energy vehicles, and implement vehicle-to-grid technology. The construction will involve building a new zero-carbon energy system, integrating renewable energy sources, and developing smart microgrids.
Demonstration projects will focus on low-carbon building standards and energy-efficient renovations. The plan includes financial support measures and aims to establish a comprehensive carbon management system within the parks by 2026, with ongoing evaluations and dynamic management.
