Haitian Task Force Drone Strikes Result in Over 1,200 Deaths Amid Rising Violence
From March 2025 to January 2026, drone strikes in Haiti, linked to a state-sponsored Task Force, resulted in at least 1,243 fatalities. This operation, part of a contract with Vectus Global led by Erik Prince, raises significant human rights concerns amid a severe humanitarian crisis.

Drone strikes conducted by a Haitian Task Force from March 2025 to January 2026 have killed at least 1,243 individuals, including 17 children, with 738 injuries reported. The Task Force, supported by Vectus Global, utilizes quadcopter drones in densely populated areas, leading to numerous civilian casualties.
A UN report indicated that over 69% of casualties were due to security force operations, with 24% being non-combatants. Despite the tactical pressure on gangs, no major leaders have been neutralized, indicating a potential shift towards a protracted conflict. The use of weaponized drones has compounded fears among civilians, complicating the security landscape and raising concerns regarding compliance with international law.
