HAL and TATA Elxsi Deliver CATS Warrior UCAV Demonstrator in 14 Weeks for IAF
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and TATA Elxsi have developed the CATS Warrior unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) demonstrator in just 14 weeks, showcasing advancements in loyal wingman technology. This UCAV integrates with the TEJAS mothership for various missions, including strike, surveillance, and electronic warfare.
The project involved TATA Elxsi's expertise in airframe assembly and landing gear, achieving rapid design and fabrication. Key phases included material selection, structural analysis, and detailed design, leading to the fabrication of over 5,000 components.
Rigorous testing confirmed structural integrity and zero leakages in fuel systems. The final prototype is set to be unveiled at Aero India 2025, marking a significant milestone in India's defense manufacturing capabilities and supporting the Indian Air Force's next-generation combat operations.
