Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) anticipates 20-22 additional F404-IN20 engines from GE Aerospace by December 31, which will facilitate the completion and delivery of nearly one squadron of Tejas Mk1A fighters by March. Currently, HAL has received only seven engines, and the shortage has been a major constraint, delaying flight testing and deliveries to the Indian Air Force (IAF).
