HanseWerk Natur Launches Fossil-Free Heating System in Langenhorn
HanseWerk Natur's fossil-free heating initiative in Langenhorn reduces CO2 emissions by 340 tons annually and lowers heating costs by an average of 440 euros per household.

As of Fall 2025, HanseWerk Natur has established a fossil-free heating supply system in Langenhorn, utilizing a large heat pump that replaces natural gas heating. This system benefits households, a daycare, a school, and a sports hall, resulting in annual CO2 savings of approximately 340 tons.
The heat pump efficiently converts one kilowatt-hour of electricity into 2.7 kilowatt-hours of heat, contributing to a reduction in heating expenses for customers. This initiative is part of a larger effort to transition heat networks to renewable sources, with six additional projects anticipated in the area. The success of this project may influence future renewable heating strategies across the region.
