Hanwha Aerospace Begins Construction of Armored Vehicle Factory in Romania

DEFENSE

Construction has begun on Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) Europe in Petrești, Dâmbovița County, Romania. This facility will produce K9 self-propelled howitzers and K10 ammunition resupply vehicles, potentially expanding into advanced land systems.

The project could generate up to 2,000 jobs and enhance Romania's defense industrial capabilities. The site will span 181,055 square meters, include modern assembly lines, testing facilities, and research laboratories. Hanwha Aerospace signed a contract in July 2024 to supply Romania with K9 and K10 systems, making Romania the sixth NATO member to operate the K9 system.
