Hanwha Aerospace Begins Construction of K9 Howitzer Factory in Romania
Hanwha Aerospace Romania has initiated construction of the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) in Petreşti, Dâmboviţa. This facility will produce K9 howitzers and K10 ammunition supply vehicles, aiming to create up to 2,000 jobs and strengthen Romania's defense industrial base. The project supports Romania's ambition to be a European defense production hub and aligns with NATO and EU security goals.

Hanwha Aerospace Romania has begun construction of the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) in Petreşti, Dâmboviţa. This facility marks the company's first production platform in Europe and will support the local production of K9 self-propelled howitzers and K10 ammunition supply vehicles.
The project aims to create up to 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, enhancing Romania's defense industrial capacity and positioning it as a defense producer and exporter in Europe. The facility will cover approximately 181,055 square meters and include modern assembly lines, testing facilities, and R&D laboratories to support the entire lifecycle of ground systems.
The goal is to achieve a localization level of up to 80% through the involvement of local industry. Hanwha Aerospace's long-term vision includes evolving the site into a regional hub for advanced ground systems.
