Hanwha Aerospace Begins Construction of K9 Howitzer Factory in Romania
Hanwha Aerospace Romania has begun construction of the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) in Petreşti, Dâmboviţa. This facility marks the company's first production platform in Europe and will support the local production of K9 self-propelled howitzers and K10 ammunition supply vehicles.
The project aims to create up to 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, enhancing Romania's defense industrial capacity and positioning it as a defense producer and exporter in Europe. The facility will cover approximately 181,055 square meters and include modern assembly lines, testing facilities, and R&D laboratories to support the entire lifecycle of ground systems.
The goal is to achieve a localization level of up to 80% through the involvement of local industry. Hanwha Aerospace's long-term vision includes evolving the site into a regional hub for advanced ground systems.
