Hanwha Aerospace Begins Mass Production of Cheongeom Anti-Tank Missile for KAI Helicopters
Hanwha Aerospace has commenced mass production of the Cheongeom anti-tank missile for the KAI Light Armed Helicopter following successful testing. The missile, South Korea's first locally designed air-launched guided missile, hit a target during tests, confirming its performance matches that of earlier models. The production contract worth KRW225 billion ($152 million) includes deliveries by 2028, following a previous contract in 2024. Cheongeom will also be deployed on the KAI KUH-1 Surion helicopter variant for South Korea's marines.

Hanwha Aerospace is starting mass production of the Cheongeom anti-tank missile for the KAI Light Armed Helicopter after a successful test launch confirmed its target-hitting capability. This missile is South Korea's first locally designed air-launched guided missile, and its performance aligns with earlier development stages.
The company secured a KRW225 billion ($152 million) contract for production, with deliveries anticipated by 2028, following a KRW162 billion contract in 2024. Cheongeom will also equip the attack variant of the KAI KUH-1 Surion helicopter for the marines. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) confirmed the missile's reliability during mass production.
