Hanwha Aerospace has increased its stake in Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to 5.09% by acquiring an additional 100,000 shares. This shift marks a transition from simple investment to management participation, with intentions to engage in decision-making processes.
The defense industry is observing this move, noting trends towards consolidation seen in major global defense firms. Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Electric has successfully completed the approval test for its 145kV SF₆-Free high-voltage circuit breaker, set for supply to a Swedish substation.
This product aligns with EU regulations phasing out SF₆ use by 2032, positioning HD Hyundai Electric favorably within the Nordic market. The collaboration between Hanwha and KAI could lead to a vertically integrated defense and aerospace entity, enhancing competitiveness in the global landscape.
