Hanwha Aerospace Increases Stake in KAI to 5.09% for Strategic Growth
Hanwha Aerospace has raised its stake in Korea Aerospace Industries to 5.09%, with plans to invest an additional 500 billion won ($340 million) for further shares. This strategic move aims to enhance competitiveness in global aerospace and defense markets amid industry consolidation, positioning Hanwha as a significant player in the sector.

Hanwha Aerospace has increased its stake in Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to 5.09% by acquiring an additional 100,000 shares. The company plans to invest up to 500 billion won ($340 million) by year-end to potentially raise its stake to around 8%.
The revised stake purpose from 'passive investment' to 'management participation' indicates an intent to influence KAI's operations. A stronger alliance is expected to enhance export competitiveness, especially as both firms derive significant revenue from exports. The collaboration could yield synergies in areas like aircraft development and defense projects, crucial for competing globally against larger players.
