Hanwha Systems presented the NIFV-ME infantry fighting vehicle and its Next-Generation Active Protection System (NG-APS) at the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh. The NG-APS features advanced sensors, AI processing, and multiple interceptors to counter various threats, including high-velocity projectiles and loitering munitions. It is designed to improve vehicle survivability and is compatible with various combat platforms, with testing planned for 2027.

At the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh, Hanwha Systems showcased the NIFV-ME infantry fighting vehicle, emphasizing its Next-Generation Active Protection System (NG-APS). This system utilizes advanced sensors, AI, and interceptors to address a wider range of threats, including high-velocity projectiles and drones.
The NG-APS builds on the existing Korean Active Protection System (KAPS) and incorporates a mix of radar and electro-optic sensors for comprehensive surveillance. Upon threat detection, the system activates hard-kill interceptors to neutralize threats at a safe distance. The NG-APS aims to enhance overall vehicle survivability and is set for hardware testing in 2027.
