Hazmat Crews Respond to Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion in Cameron Parish
A natural gas pipeline exploded near Holly Beach in Cameron Parish on Monday morning, leading to an ongoing fire and a response from hazmat crews. The incident occurred at the Delfin LNG pipeline, with flames visible as emergency teams work to contain the blaze.
Johnson Bayou High School, located approximately six miles from the fire, has been placed under a precautionary shelter-in-place order. No injuries have been reported. The Delfin LNG project includes offshore natural gas infrastructure linked to pipelines in Cameron Parish, facilitating the transport of natural gas to Gulf of Mexico facilities.
