HD Hyundai Samho Secures $769 Million Contract for Three LNG Carriers from Capital Clean Energy Carriers
HD Hyundai Samho has secured a $769.5 million contract to build three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for Capital Clean Energy Carriers, a Greek shipping company. This order contributes to HD Hyundai Samho's total order intake, projected to reach $7.889 billion in 2023, significantly surpassing its target of $4.571 billion and last year's $7.242 billion.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029. In December alone, HD Hyundai Samho has added over 2 trillion won in orders, including a contract for one LNG carrier worth 367.2 billion won and four container ships worth a total of 689.6 billion won.
The company specializes in LNG carrier construction and aims for high-value vessel types, with seven LNG carriers ordered this year, up from six last year. HD Hyundai Samho operates in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, employing around 4,000 workers.
