HD KSOE Secures $343 Million Deal for Three VLGCs
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has signed a 505 billion-won contract for three gas tankers, contributing to its $9.35 billion order intake this year. The contract represents 40% of the company’s annual order target, highlighting its significant market position in shipbuilding.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) has finalized a 505 billion-won ($343 million) deal to construct three Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), scheduled for delivery by the end of 2029. This contract is part of a broader order intake for 86 vessels worth a total of $9.35 billion in 2026, achieving 40.1% of its annual target of $23.31 billion.
The order backlog comprises various vessel types, including 12 LNG carriers, 20 container ships, and 18 ammonia carriers. HD KSOE's substantial order volume indicates robust demand in the maritime sector, which may influence its competitive positioning moving forward.
