Henderson Municipal Gas Launches Expansion in Western Henderson County
Henderson Municipal Gas (HMG) is set to begin a major infrastructure expansion for natural gas services in May 2026. This initiative aims to enhance energy options for residents and businesses in the Geneva and Smith Mills areas.

Henderson Municipal Gas (HMG) will start construction on May 1, 2026, to install 3.1 miles of a 4-inch natural gas main along Kentucky Highway 136 West, serving Geneva and Smith Mills. The project, estimated to be completed by summer 2026, is funded entirely by HMG.
Swartz Pipeline Contracting has been selected for the construction based on the lowest bid. The expansion is intended to provide a more efficient energy alternative to propane and electricity for local communities.
HMG is also pursuing funding for a subsequent phase to extend the gas main by an additional two miles into Smith Mills. This expansion could potentially lower energy costs and enhance service reliability for residents.
