HENSOLDT to Integrate Kinetic Countermeasures into Bundeswehr's ASUL Counter-UAS System
HENSOLDT has been commissioned by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) to integrate kinetic countermeasures into the ASUL drone defence system. This enhancement follows a sensor technology update in early 2025.
Previously limited to soft-kill capabilities, ASUL will now include the KONGSBERG weapon station, adapted for existing German Armed Forces weapons. A new command container will enable coordination among commanders and operators.
Each ASUL system can be equipped with multiple effectors based on threat levels, allowing for effective area security against UAS. Since 2022, ASUL has provided valuable operational experience, and HENSOLDT continues to expand its modular capabilities. In 2024, HENSOLDT reported a turnover of 2.24 billion euros and employs approximately 9,000 staff after acquiring ESG GmbH.
