HII Expands Portchester Facility to Enhance UK and European Unmanned Systems Support
HII is expanding its Portchester facility in the UK to enhance support for unmanned systems, including the REMUS and ROMULUS vehicles, with an increase of 8-10 jobs. The facility aims to localize European sustainment work and will be fully operational by Q3 2026, focusing on the REMUS 620 and ROMULUS USV systems. HII has previously delivered over 750 REMUS vehicles globally, with the Royal Navy as a significant customer.

HII is expanding its Portchester facility in the UK to support unmanned systems operations, including REMUS and ROMULUS systems. The site will increase employment by 8-10 roles, enhance capabilities for underwater vehicles, and focus on local production.
The facility aims to keep European sustainment work within Europe and support various European REMUS users. HII has delivered over 750 REMUS vehicles globally, with the Royal Navy being a key customer.
The new facility will be fully operational by Q3 2026 and will feature capabilities for the REMUS 620 and ROMULUS USV systems. HII is committed to developing and testing these technologies for future naval requirements.
