HII Expands Portchester Facility to Support UUV Operations for UK and Europe

DEFENSE

Huntington Ingalls Industries has expanded its facility in Portchester, England, to support the growing demand for unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) from the UK's Royal Navy and European navies. The site will enable assembly of the Remus 620 UUV and enhance training capabilities for allied navies.

HII aims to increase production and support for UUVs, responding to the trend of larger orders from European NATO members. The facility will also support the partnership with Babcock for autonomous UUV launch systems. HII has delivered over 750 Remus UUVs globally and plans to demonstrate its Romulus systems to European clients by 2026.
