HII Secures Pentagon Contract for Autonomous UUV Launch System
HII has been awarded a contract by the Defense Innovation Unit to develop a Torpedo Tube Launch and Recovery system for UUVs. This system enhances operational capabilities for the US Navy and its allies in undersea warfare and unmanned operations.

HII has received a contract from the Defense Innovation Unit to create a Torpedo Tube Launch and Recovery (TTLR) system for its REMUS unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV). This agreement builds on HII's extensive experience in undersea warfare and autonomous systems, following successful demonstrations involving the USS Delaware (SSN 791) in June 2025.
The REMUS 620 has shown advanced navigation and communication capabilities during recent testing, critical for future deployments. This development is poised to enhance the US Navy's operational reach and effectiveness, indicating a shift towards greater integration of unmanned systems in naval operations. HII's innovations could potentially reshape undersea engagement strategies, increasing stealth and reducing operational risks.
