HII has signed a contract to support the US Missile Defense Agency's Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) initiative. This program is focused on developing the Golden Dome system, which includes a network of radars and interceptors for national defense against air and missile threats.
The SHIELD contract has a ceiling of $151 billion and involves over 1,000 industry partners to facilitate the development, testing, and deployment of necessary technologies. HII's Mission Technologies segment will assist in areas such as command and control integration, directed energy, cyber operations, microelectronics, and logistics.
Additionally, the SHIELD contract is designed to enhance competition for task orders, aiming to expedite the provision of advanced defense capabilities to military operations. To date, MDA has awarded SHIELD positions to over 2,100 companies, including an initial group of 1,014 firms.
