Hinunangan Achieves SIPSC Declaration, Aims for Sustained Peace
Hinunangan has declared SIPSC on 29 April, signaling improved security and investment potential. Continued collaboration with military and police is key to maintaining peace.

On 29 April, Hinunangan officially declared its SIPSC status, marking a significant shift in local security dynamics previously threatened by communist insurgents. Mayor Ymard Joseph Tocmo emphasized that this achievement could lead to increased investments and economic growth.
The Philippine Army and the 8th Infantry Division confirmed ongoing troop deployments to ensure no resurgence of insurgency occurs. Local government units, alongside the Philippine National Police and other agencies, pledged support to sustain peace initiatives. As of now, 20 municipalities in Leyte have achieved SIPSC status, with Southern Leyte set for a similar declaration on 5 May, potentially establishing it as the second province in Eastern Visayas to do so.
