Homer City Generation Project Completes Key Phases Ahead of Schedule
Homer City Generation has completed demolition and excavation for a new natural gas plant and AI Data Center ahead of schedule, paving the way for an increase in workforce to 1,300 skilled workers. The 4.5 GW plant is set to enhance power supply for 13 states and Washington D.C. by 2028.

Homer City Generation, LP has finalized two critical phases of its natural gas power plant and AI Data Center project ahead of schedule. The demolition and excavation efforts, conducted by Independence Excavating, involved recycling over 112,000 tons of scrap materials and moving approximately three million cubic yards of material, all while maintaining a strong safety record with 130 union workers on site.
The project aims to replace the former coal-fired facility with a 4.5-gigawatt plant expected to service 13 states and Washington D.C. by 2028. The completion of these phases signals a significant increase in the workforce and indicates the project's progress amidst challenging conditions.
