Honeywell Launches SkyShot Engine Targeting Asian Autonomous Aviation Market

ADVANCED AIR MOBILITY (AAM) / NEXT-GEN AVIATIONDEFENSE

Honeywell Aerospace is launching the SkyShot 1600 engine, aimed at the growing demand for uncrewed tactical jets in Asia. This new line of lightweight, low-cost turbofans will produce thrust between 800-2,000 lb (3.5-8.9 kN), addressing the propulsion needs for military operators.

Honeywell's technology will support navigation systems and jam-resistant guidance for autonomous platforms. The SkyShot development aligns with the US Air Force's flight tests of the Collaborative Combat Aircraft prototypes.

Honeywell is also collaborating with defense industries in Japan and South Korea, including projects with Korea Aerospace Industries and longstanding partners like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Additionally, in Australia, Honeywell is contributing to the development of guided munitions technology under the trilateral security pact with the UK and US.
