Hong Kong Launches First Humanoid-Operated Convenience Store in Hung Hom
Hong Kong will debut a 24-hour convenience store operated by a humanoid robot, 'Xiao Gai', enhancing AI integration in daily life. The initiative aims to promote public understanding of AI and support the city's position as a hub for global innovation.

A 24-hour convenience store operated by a humanoid robot will launch in Hung Hom, Hong Kong, as part of the city's initiative to integrate AI into daily life. Developed by a mainland Chinese firm, this store represents the company's first venture outside the mainland, following its successful 'Galaxy Space Capsule' store in Beijing.
The humanoid robot, 'Xiao Gai', is designed to interact with customers and encourage purchases. The company plans to expand with 100 capsules across 10 cities and has partnered with a Hong Kong investment manager for local deployments. The introduction of embodied AI technology is expected to increase customer foot traffic by 30-40% and support Hong Kong's ambition as a center for innovation.
