Honolulu Allocates $85M for Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades
Honolulu's Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant will undergo significant upgrades with an investment of $85 million. The projects aim to enhance infrastructure for the Windward Oʻahu community and improve wastewater treatment processes.

Honolulu has initiated two major projects at the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, estimated at $85 million. This includes a $23 million investment to enhance biotowers for decontamination and a $61 million facility to remove excess water from sludge.
Construction will adhere to a schedule minimizing disturbances to the surrounding ʻAikahi community, with work limited to weekdays and Saturdays. The project is crucial for ensuring effective wastewater treatment for Kailua and Windward areas and is projected to span three years. The investments reflect a commitment to modernizing city infrastructure to serve residents' future needs.
