House Committee Advances FY 2027 Military Construction-Veterans Affairs Bill
The House Appropriations Committee approved a fiscal 2027 spending proposal focused on military installations and veterans, emphasizing funding for chemical cleanups and climate resilience. This marks the first spending measure for FY 2027 to progress out of committee.

The fiscal 2027 Military Construction-Veterans Affairs bill received unanimous approval from the House Appropriations Committee, facilitating funding for veterans affected by toxic burn pits and other resilience measures. An amendment that required the Army to study the implications of a proposed triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery was rejected.
On Wednesday, the committee is expected to complete its markup of the Financial Services-General Government bill and introduce two additional spending bills: Agriculture-FDA and State-Foreign Operations, which will also undergo subcommittee markup on Thursday. The ongoing legislative process reflects a focus on military and veterans' needs in the face of environmental challenges.
