House Republicans Demand Answers on DHS Purchase of Pulsed Energy Weapon
DEFENSE
The Department of Homeland Security purchased a pulsed energy weapon suspected of causing Havana Syndrome, which affected U.S. diplomats. House Republicans, led by Chairman Andrew Garbarino, are seeking details on the procurement process, costs, and test findings.
The weapon, containing Russian components, was transferred to the Department of Energy for testing. Intelligence assessments are inconclusive on foreign involvement, with some agencies suggesting a foreign actor may have developed a weapon causing the symptoms associated with Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI).
