HPCL Expands Piped Natural Gas Network in Siliguri, Connecting 2,700 Households
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has expanded its Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network in Siliguri, connecting 2,700 homes. This initiative supports India's clean energy transition and enhances city gas distribution infrastructure.

HPCL has received authorization to supply PNG to the Uttorayon Society, the largest residential complex in Siliguri, which encompasses approximately 2,700 households. The project is part of HPCL's broader city gas distribution (CGD) initiative, which has already established connections in areas such as Kanki, with about 1,300 households served.
Additionally, PNG connections have been introduced in Raiganj, North Dinajpur district. Future plans include expansions to Bagdogra and a PNG supply agreement with Luxmi Township & Holding Limited for the Uttorayon township.
Regulatory support from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is crucial for these developments, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing urban energy infrastructure. The increasing reliance on PNG could significantly reduce carbon emissions in the region.
