Humanoid Robot 'Schotti' Enhances Customer Experience in German Stores
The humanoid robot 'Schotti' is being tested in Germany to assist customers in DIY and telecommunications stores. Its development signifies a shift towards integrating robotics to support, rather than replace, human labor in retail.

The robot named 'Schotti,' stationed at Sonderpreis Baumarkt in Pocking, Germany, has been operational since early April 2026. Designed to assist customers in locating products, Schotti can walk and communicate, having learned the store's layout.
With a purchase cost of 80,000 euros (93,600 USD), its operational cost is about 1.70 euros (1.99 USD) per hour. Currently, its movements are partially controlled remotely, and it is also being trialed in a telecommunications store. This trial aims to demonstrate how a single robot can adapt to various customer service roles, enhancing employee support rather than replacing jobs.
