At a memorial ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Slovak AN-24 aircraft crash in Hejce, Hungary, officials emphasized the strong alliance between Slovakia and Hungary. Zsolt Kutnyánszky, state secretary for military development and defense policy, stated that the partnership is demonstrated through actions, not just treaties.

The crash on January 19, 2006, resulted in the deaths of 42 service members returning from a Kosovo peacekeeping mission. Kutnyánszky honored the service members, recognizing their contributions to peace in Kosovo and the solidarity shown during the tragedy, as both nations and local residents united in response efforts.
