Huntingdonshire Plans 170 New Homes on Former RAF Upwood Site
Huntingdonshire District Council's local plan includes the former RAF Upwood site for the construction of approximately 170 new homes. The site, which has been abandoned since its closure in 1994, was originally opened in 1917 and later used by the United States Air Force from 1981.
RAF Upwood features Upwood Hill House, a building that has faced multiple arson attacks and has become a point of interest for urban explorers. The local plan, which guides development until 2046, allocates 17.69 hectares of the site for residential use, along with proposed open spaces and play parks. This initiative follows a similar plan for the former RAF Waterbeach site, which is expected to accommodate up to 6,500 homes.
