Hunts Point Freight EV Charging Station Proposal Unveiled
The Hunts Point Freight EV Charging Station aims to enhance local air quality and economic empowerment through sustainable design. This project integrates efficient vehicle operations with community engagement, setting a new standard for urban infrastructure.

The Hunts Point Freight EV Charging Station is designed to optimize freight traffic flow while prioritizing safety and efficiency. Vehicles will access charging zones from the northwest and exit to the southeast, minimizing disruptions and improving operational efficiency.
A key feature of the design is a 1.5-acre mass timber canopy, which supports a 2,300-panel photovoltaic array and addresses embodied carbon in construction. This canopy also facilitates rainwater harvesting for site utilities and enhances public spaces. The project aims to establish a landmark that reflects the importance of the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center and its role in the local economy while promoting environmental stewardship and community pride.
