Hydra Drones Secures $5.4M Funding for HYDRA-400 Heavy-Lift Drone Development
Hydra Drones, a UK SME, has initiated a £4 million ($5.4 million) investment round to complete the development and industrialization of its heavy-lift drone, the HYDRA-400. This drone can carry payloads up to 400 kilograms and utilizes a hybrid jet-electric propulsion system.
The funding will finalize the last phase of research and development and prepare the HYDRA-400 for mass production after five years of development and engineering work. Strategic investors include MBDA, which has already invested in Hydra Drones and will continue joint development of the platform.
The HYDRA-400 is intended for various applications, including defense, humanitarian aid, and logistics. The collaboration with MBDA was showcased at the DSEI 2023 defense exhibition, where the drone was displayed with a mockup of Brimstone missiles.
